Mods & pluginsThe official manual suggests downloading mods from sources like CurseForge. Wherever you get them, a mod runs with full access to your server, so it's worth being picky.
Before installing a mod
- Download it from the mod's official page, not from a re-upload.
- Check that it was updated recently: after a game update, old mods are the first thing to break.
- Read the description for its requirements, such as other mods it depends on.
- Back up the server before adding it.
Avoid «free premium» versions
Cracked or re-uploaded paid mods are a common way to spread malicious code. If it's paid, buy it from the author.
