A Hytale server can host several worlds at once: each one is a folder in universe/worlds/ with its own config.json.
How they run
According to the official manual, each world runs on its own main thread and offloads parallel work into a shared thread pool. A busy world doesn't directly hold up the others' main loop, but they all share the same CPU and memory.
Things to keep in mind
- Every loaded world adds to memory use, especially with players in it.
- Each world has its own rules (PvP, fall damage, NPCs), so you can make a peaceful hub and an adventure world.
- Back up the whole
universe/folder, not just one world.
