Hytale servers must be authenticated before they can accept player connections. The official reason: authentication lets the server talk to Hytale's service APIs and helps counter abuse.
Device login, from the console
- Open the console
In the panel, open your server's console while it is running.
- Run the login command
Type
/auth login device. The server prints a link (https://accounts.hytale.com/device) and a code such asABCD-1234. - Approve it in your browser
Open the link, sign in with your Hytale account and enter the code. The code expires after 900 seconds (15 minutes); if it runs out, run the command again.
- Check the console
When it works, the console shows
Authentication successful! Mode: OAUTH_DEVICE. From then on, players can connect.
The manual sets a limit of 500 servers per Hytale game license to prevent early abuse. A normal community server is nowhere near it.
Whoever approves the code links the server to their account. Only do it yourself, in your own browser.
