Hytale lets you open a singleplayer world to friends from the pause menu (Online Play) and gives you a share code. It's free and quick, but it depends on your computer and your home network.
Which one fits
| Share code | Dedicated server | |
|---|---|---|
| Online when you're not playing | No | Yes |
| Depends on your home network | Yes; some networks can't be reached | No |
| Reveals your IP address | Yes, the code contains it | No, players use the server's address |
| Uses your PC's resources | Yes | No |
Share codes contain your IP
Hytale's own support article warns that share codes contain your IP address: never post them publicly, in public chats or on stream.
Worth knowing
Hytale's article on joining friends lists networks that can't work with share codes (some school, work and public Wi-Fi networks block the traffic). A server avoids all of that.
