Before upgrading or changing settings, it helps to know which resource is the problem. The official manual gives a simple rule.
What drives each
| Resource | Driven by | What helps |
|---|---|---|
| RAM | A large loaded area: high view distance, players exploring independently | Lower view distance, a plan with more memory |
| CPU | High player or entity counts (NPCs, mobs) | Fewer NPCs in busy areas, a plan with more vCores |
The trap
A server short of memory also shows high CPU, because the garbage collector works harder. If RAM sits near the limit while CPU climbs, it's a memory problem first.
Tip
The panel shows memory and CPU in real time. Watch them while your players are online, which is what the manual recommends.
