Ten gigabytes and eighty-five of NVMe. Poseidon is the plan for a modded world that has already outgrown its first home and is still adding chunks.
The extra two gigabytes over Hades buy you a bigger world rather than more players. Large modded worlds get expensive in memory the further out they generate, and this is the first plan where you can pregenerate a serious radius without watching the server the whole time.
It runs a hundred-and-fifty-mod pack for a small group, or a hundred-mod pack for a busy one. Three splitter slots keep the network options from Hades, and six databases give each of those servers its own without sharing.
The eighty-five gigabytes of NVMe matter more here than they sound. Modded worlds with heavy terrain generation grow fast, and running out of disk mid-session is a worse failure than running out of memory.
What actually runs on it
- A 150-mod pack for a small, committed group
- A 100-mod pack with 25–30 players online
- Serious world pregeneration without downtime
- A three-server network with a modded main world
What it will not run
- ATM9 or ATM10 with more than a handful of players
- Networks needing more than four server instances
- Multiple large modded worlds at the same time
Thor adds another 2 GB, a fourth splitter slot and 100 GB of NVMe — the point where the biggest packs become comfortable.
