Twelve gigabytes is the floor for the packs everybody actually wants to play. All The Mods, Create: Above and Beyond, Better Minecraft — this is where they stop being a slideshow.
After the JVM you are working with around ten gigabytes. That is enough for a three-hundred-mod pack with ten to fifteen players at a real render distance, which is what those packs are designed around and what smaller plans quietly cannot deliver.
Four splitter slots and seven databases mean the network options grow with the pack. A modded main world, a lobby, a creative build server and a spare, each with its own database, all from one allocation.
